Aureus Gate, a service of Aureus Prime

In preparation · opening soon

A customer wants to pay you online with Mobile Money. Which link should you send?

Aureus Gate is the payment module of Aureus Prime. It is designed to let small merchants, entrepreneurs and freelancers in French-speaking Africa accept Mobile Money and card payments online.

No opening date has been announced. First launch planned in: Cameroon.

The problem

Selling online is one thing. Getting paid is another.

  • Payment happens over messages

You share your number, the customer sends you a transfer, then a screenshot. You check it by hand. And a dishonest buyer can later ask for the transfer to be reversed.

  • Adding payments to a website takes time

Connecting a payment provider yourself means paperwork, technical work and testing. That is a lot for a small business.

  • Tracking who paid for what gets messy

Without a dedicated tool, you match each payment to the right order by hand, and some slip through.

The planned flow

How it will work

This is the planned flow. It may still change before launch.

Who it is for

Built for people who sell, invoice or build

  • Shop owners

You sell products in a shop, on social media or on your website. You will be able to send your customer a payment link, and they will pay with Mobile Money or a card. Running a WooCommerce store? A plugin is planned.

  • Freelancers

You bill for a project or a service. You will be able to request payment with a simple link.

  • Developers and integrators

You build websites for yourself or for clients. The API, the hosted payment page and a WooCommerce plugin are planned so you can add Mobile Money and card payments to them.

Planned feature

Gradus — every payment, at the right step

Gradus is a planned Aureus Gate feature for sales, assignments and projects that are paid in stages: a deposit first, then the rest on the schedule you agree with your customer.

  1. Deposit
  2. Next step
  3. Balance
  • Shop owners

Ask for a deposit when the order is placed, then the balance in one or more scheduled payments.

  • Freelancers

Ask for a deposit when an assignment starts, then get paid at each step agreed with your client.

  • Entrepreneurs and service providers

Split a project's payment into several due dates, and see what is expected and what has already been paid.

Gradus will not be credit: no advance, no interest. You will set the schedule with your customer, who will pay each step with Mobile Money or a card.

Planned feature

Domus — a payment page that looks like your business

Domus will let each merchant present a payment page that fits their business. It will start with a clear Gate address, then grow into a branded experience and a custom domain after the required checks.

  • Standard Gate

A clear payment page with a “Powered by Aureus Gate” notice.

  • Brand

A merchant subdomain, your logo, your colors and your verified legal name.

  • Domain

A domain such as pay.yoursite.com, activated after DNS ownership and KYB checks.

  • Partners

Several brands and domains for agencies and platforms, with centralized management planned.

Custom domains will require ownership checks, sensitive-name screening and automatically renewed certificates. Plans and pricing will be announced separately.

Our principles

Four principles, set from the start

  • A technical intermediary

Aureus Gate is designed as a technical intermediary, backed by a licensed payment provider.

  • Designed never to hold your funds

Aureus Gate is designed never to hold merchants' funds.

  • Verified accounts

Every sign-up will include an identity check (KYC) and a business check (KYB). The service will be for people aged 18 and over.

  • A payment, not a transfer

Your customer will choose Mobile Money or card and confirm the payment in a dedicated checkout. With Mobile Money, it will not be a person-to-person transfer they could later have reversed.
